The Giant Spider in the forest had driven her far away from her little nook she would use to sleep in, so she hasn't slept in the past day, maybe two. Her slightly loud rumbling in her stomach reminds her she only managed to eat a couple berries yesterday and the chestnuts she managed to roast she had dropped in the scramble to get away. Right now things aren't looking so well for her. Where ever she is now is hot, humid, and kind of dark despite it being day time. Plus, she doesn't recognize many of the plants here... she's not even gonna try to climb the skyscraper sized trees surrounding her. Sighing she continues to walk, her feet missing their steps every now and again. Exhaustion paired with hunger making her mind clouded as she moves at a much slower pace than she had an hour ago.
On top of all of this she's thirsty. But, as stated earlier, she has no idea if any of this stuff is safe. Plus. She can taste the fizzy taste of a storm in the air. So, she'll need to find cover or shelter before she can find food. Her right foot slips on a root and she, normally very uncharacteristically of her, shrieks as she slides down a small hill. Slamming into the side of a tree with her right side she groans before sighing. She needs to keep going, she needs to keep moving...
She knows, on some level, this sort of thought process is the recess into madness or the last thoughts before on dies. But she doesn't want to be caught in a storm. Nor does she want to sleep on the ground when she has no clue what is there. A crashing sound is heard and her wrench slams next to her, thankfully it didn't embed into the tree. Sighing she stands and pulls it into her arms.
“Alright, Riley. Think... Where would an animal live here?” Whispering to herself she looks around before frowning and looking up. “Alright... You'll have to climb tree... But first. Food. And something to hold your weapon to you back. Stop dilly dallying and do something.” Nodding she begins to look for food or a sturdy something could be used as rope. Her footing slips another time and she crashes into bushes, thick bushes at least. Pushing herself to her feet she gets her footing again and looks around. She can distantly hear the sound of rushing water.
She smiles, “Where there is water there is fish and where there is fish there is food.” Nodding she begins to make her way. As tired and hungry as she is she knows she needs to get to the water before she gives out. And she can't give out, she can't give out, she can't give out... “Come on Ri. Its like camping, you like camping, right? So keep walking.” And she stumbles along, falling on her knees, elbows, and hands often and, by the time the water sounds roaring to her, they're kind of bleeding as well. Stumbling again she stops and looks over her shoulder. She can see a little blood trail behind her at the places she stumbled and fell.
“I can't make it... can I...?”
She can't make it.
She knows she can't...
Dropping to her knees she catches her breath.
“... I'm gonna die aren't I?”
Those words aren't said in a scared way, just spoken as a matter of fact. She's barely keeping herself awake as it is... She's lost blood. So... Some creature is probably tailing her for an easy meal. She's hungry and her energy is fading fast. The more she sweats the more dehydrated she becomes...
She really may die if she doesn't keep moving...
But, can she?

digital-art-gallery.com/oid/1/3000x2265_955_Rog_2d_creature_character_rat_monster_fantasy_picture_image_digital_art.jpgA large creature sniffs the air as it hunts. It smells blood and begins to become attracted to the scent. A person trails behind it, sighing. "Max, are you done yet? We have to get back soon, it's going to get dark and I'd rather not fight the enemies that appear then." The creature gestures to a forward area and begins to howl. The boy scratches his head and nods as he begins to walk. "Fine...Where do you want to take me?" The creature howls once more as it begins to run forward. The boy chases after him until the come upon a blood trail. "Well, this certainly isn't normal. Alright, that means someone or something is here right? Alright, go ahead, take me to them. I'll chase them off once we get there." The creature come to a halt at the end of the trail, smelling a girl who is lying on the floor. He stares for a long moment before he registers the situation and takes a deep breath. He walks over to the person and kneels down. "Hey...why are you here? What happened?"

Riley jumps when she hears a voice. Looking up she stares a moment while vision and mind both focus. Gathering her voice, her thoughts, and her strength she replies, "Giant spider chased me here. I'm lost, hungry, and tired." Her words were spoken like one would list off to a person of authority. Sharp and quick, not fluff hanging around it nor extra words to make it look sparkly. Just straight forward and to the point. "I fell... A lot..." Which would explain why her hands, knees, and elbows are each bleeding at least a little, her knees are the worst of it though.

He stares at her for a long moment before he looks over to his companion who is howling. He gives a small sigh and nods. "Fine. I'll take care of it. You are in charge of defense."
He walks over to the girl and picks her up, carrying her. He shoots her a glance before he starts walking. "If you don't want to die, sit still and stay quiet. I have a half full canteen hanging around my neck. Drink it. Wait until we get back to my place before you say anything. Don't fall asleep either. Conserve your energy and wait. If you have any complaints, save them for a better time."
He walks her out of the area, following the large creature that leads the way. When they reach a large brush, Marron has to wait for the creature to cut down a few vines and obstacles with its claws. When they are finally through, they see a large tree hut high in the air. He begins to walk toward it and grabs onto a vine. He softly puts down Riley's legs before he holds onto both her and a vine. The creature cuts another vine as they fly into the air and onto a small balcony. The large creature then turns into a small mouse as it crawls on his shoulder. He again picks up Riley completely as he brings her over to a small makeshift bed. He lays her down on it and walks away to a small chest. He starts searching through it before he stops a moment and looks back.
"Now you can speak."
After that, he gets back to working.

She did as told, not really having the strength to argue... nor did she think she would survive a struggle anyways. Riley drinks a bit of the water, keeping herself awake by taking a small swig every now and again. She closes the canteen when they reach the vine, hold onto the male by wrapping her arms around his neck. Once she's laid down on the makeshift bed she moves around a little until she's in a sitting position, using her elbows to proper her up. Watching the male she waits, not wanting to bother him she doesn't speak quite yet.

He pulls out a few leaves and multiple bandages before sighing to himself. He walks over and shoves a strip of leaf in his mouth before he tells her to sit still again.
"This is gonna sting. Bear with it while Max gets you some food." He looks to the tiny mouse on his shoulder before he gives it a command. "Max, Fruit and water, go gather as much as you can carry." The mouse nods and runs off as he dresses the wounds. He's attentive, but deathly silent as he takes out another canteen and pours the water on her to clean the wounds. Then he takes bits of the leaves out of his mouth before using them as an ointment. He dresses the wounds entirely with the leaves and bandages as the mouse makes his return as the large creature again. It has a large leaf filled with fruits, and two more canteens obviously filled with a liquid on it's neck. It lays the fruit and water before her before it becomes a tiny mouse again. It sits on his shoulder as he closes his eyes.
"Eat what you can, take it in moderation."
With that, he once again grows silent.

While being treated Riley watches him closely, he seem rather gentle... if a hermit as well. She gives a gentle smile as she reaches out and touches the his shoulder, the one the mouse isn't upon, "Thank you." She then leans back and picks up a small fruit, biting into it to peel its skin to eat first. Then she eats the meat of the fruit, being mindful of any seed, placing them in one hand as she repeats the process with a little larger fruit. Her movements slow, but thought through and precise.

He stands up and gives a sigh. "Don't thank me. Just eat, everything else can come later."
He begins to pace around the area as he gathers his thoughts.
"So, why were you being chased by Auran? Rather, the giant spider. Why were you in the forest? Wouldn't it have been safer in the marketplace?"

"The marketplace?" She asks as she takes a swig of water. "And I was getting berries from a tree. I bumped into this huge, white thing... It may have been a giant spider's egg." Riley shrugs, though her movements are little limited due to the leather she's wearing.

He gives her a small look before he closes his eyes again and looks out of the window.
"Yeah...the marketplace. The starting place for most players. It's where you learn the ropes and are introduced to the game. Plus...if you were near a spider egg...it makes sense as to why you were chased."
He shoots her a small glance before he sighs again.
"Do you need a bit of privacy? You look uncomfortable. Also...if you want to get some rest, eat some of the black fruit in front of you first. It prevents you from getting nightmares while you sleep. After you're comfortable and ready, then let me know. I'll take you to the market place. There is a spring underneath this tree house too in the event you need a cool bath."
He sighs as he walks outside and listens to the trees.

Riley blinks before looking to the black fruit. So far this guy has been trustworthy. Shrugging she picks it up and bites into it. Its bitter to the point of revolting. But the best things for you usually taste the worst. So she eats it to the pit. Then she picks up a different fruit and slowly starts, "Um..." She bites into the fruit the same as she had done the others. "... Hey... Can you help me get down... uh... to the... spring?" She would really like to get her clothes off and into some cool water now.

He goes silent for a moment before he walks over to her and once again picks her up. He walks over to the balcony again, but this time goes around the back, which reveals a giant metal slide. He calmly slides down it until he reaches the water. He calmly lets her down and takes off his jacket. The mouse lounges in the water comfortably as the he lets his jacket float in the water.
"Sigh...I tend to have unwanted guests. In the event I do, cover yourself in that. It's less hot than your leather. Once your done, just hang it up."
He calmly leaves as he climbs up a metal ladder into his house.

After peeling her armor off she slips into the water, sighing, "Oh god." To her... this was heaven.
Around thirty minutes later Riley slips out of the water and pulls on her armor again. Picking up the male's jacket, which is rather wet, she drapes it over her shoulders as she goes to climb back up. "Hey... Mind if I sleep?"

He looks over to her and gestures to the bed.
"Take the bed and get some rest. Like I said, after all of this, I'll take you to the marketplace."
He walks out of the hut and jumps down, leaving her in the hut by herself. (When she awakes, he'll be back.)

Riley nods and then curls up on the bed. Exhaustion taking her before nerves and fear could grasp her. Her dreams are lacking and all she sees is black for the next seven hours. When she awakes she lays in her ball for a moment before she stretches and yawns, "he... Hello?"

A mouse sniffs her as she awakes before running over to the boy. He looks up and turns around before he takes a seat.
"Hi. I assume you are feeling better?"

Riley pauses, thinks about it before nodding, "Very much so. Once again, thank you." She fully sits up and moves around until shes in a cross legged position [pretzel style]. Her gaze falls onto the person before her. "You saved me and... said something about players, I take it... You must be a player then?" Its not an unjust assumption the strange top hat person had told her that anyone but players had the potential to kill her, to not trust anyone but them. If he's not... he hasn't attacked her yet...

He looks over to her and shakes his head. "No, I'm not a player, but at least you aren't completely in the dark. I'm...Diablo. That's what I'm called. A nickname I suppose. I'm the inverse that controls the jungle, the area you are currently in. I didn't really save you, Max smelled your blood and found you. We took you back, simple as that. Any other questions?"
He doesn't really sound snappish or upset, not even defensive. He just isn't used to talking with others. As a result, he doesn't really know how to approach this stranger. He might just be hurrying it along.

"Max...? Oh, is he the mouse?" Riley nods, placing her hands on her knees. "And Diablo, huh? Can I call ya Dia? And... We're in the jungle, right? What's it like here? How long have you been here?"

He simply nods as he points he the mouse on his shoulder. When she asks about calling him Dia, and the questions start flying he leans back against the wall and thinks of his answers slowly.
"I don't really care what you call me. If Dia is fine with you then we'll leave it at that. As I said, yes, we are in the jungle. I don't know what else to say besides it's a jungle. Easy to get lost, highly dangerous if you don't know your way, and many monsters in odd places. I've...been here a very, very long time. I stopped counting the days since there was no point. Survival first, everything else later."

"Alright. Got it. Very dangerous jungle, many things want to kill you... Alright then..." She shrugs and then nods. "Oh and... My name is Riley. Riley Irving." After than she falls silent... not really know what to say or do now.

He nods to himself as he hears her name. He stands up and offers her a hand. "Riley. Okay then. If you don't have anything to say, don't feel compelled to speak...Are you coming? I'll take you to the Marketplace now if you want."
He looks outside before he says, "It's dark out, without Max it would be a bit dangerous. I'll take you there now, the sooner the better. The marketplace is where you can get a majority of the rest, food and items you'll need in the game. If you want to wait, then suit yourself, morning or night, it doesn't really matter to me."

Riley stands.
"We can wait until morning..." She stretches. "... Until then... Do you mind if I exercise?"

"Do what you want. It doesn't really matter to me."

So she proceeds with stretches, wincing at the fact her suit is a little constricting. But once that is done she moves into sit ups doing fifty of them. Then one hundred push ups. Next she moves to do a wall sit, "S..so... You, uh... Live alone... Right?"

He closes his eyes again as he raises his head toward the ceiling.
"Yes, I do I suppose. I'm the only one in this territory besides you right now. If I had to say I lived with someone it would be Max, but he is the mother hen of this area, so I suppose he doesn't count."
He shakes his head as he looks back at her and the back up before closing his eyes and sighing. "By the way...what's...with the leather outfit?"

Riley blinks and looks down. She frowns before sighing. Looking back up she notices his eyes are closed, but keeps her gaze trailed on him. "Oh... I woke up with it... I don't know why..." She shrugs. "Just like my hair... it isn't naturally pink, its strawberry blond. And while I was getting water from a river I noticed my eye color changed too... My eyes are naturally brown with a red tinge, here they're pinkish red... Its kinda... strange..."
She shakes her head.
"And you? Are you any different? Or... oh wait... do you remember? You said you were here a long time, I'm sorry if offended you. That wasn't my intention."

He nods as he opens his eyes to stare at the roof.
"Don't say sorry, you didn't offend me. I know I look different than I normally should, but I don't know by how much. It has nothing to do with any sort of length of time of me being here. I just don't remember. I have no memory of anything before me being in the game. For all I know, you are talking to coding within the game. I am the 'Bad Guy' after all. At least, I'm one of them."
He takes another bite out of the fruit. "It doesn't matter much anyways. I don't really care one way or the other. Any other questions you want to ask? I suggest asking now if you do."

"Mmm... Naw," She gets up from her wall sit and then stretches again. "I'm pretty good at learning on the fly... If you don't mind teaching me that is." Even as she bends over to stretch her back she tries to keep as best eye contact with him as possible, not wanting to seem rude.

He finally opens his eyes to look at the girl before simply nodding.
"If that is what you want. Just ask what you will and I will answer as well I am able."
He stands up and sorts out a small corner for himself before sitting back down and just watching the girl. "Alright...is there anything else? If not, I suggest you get some more rest. You were pretty low on energy, and your wounds still need to heal. In other words, don't overdo it."
